1. Who We Are
Family Recipes ("we", "our", or "the app") is a private mobile application developed by Chika Moronu that lets families share, store, and discover recipes together. The app is available on Android via Google Play.

2. Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to make the app work for your family.
Account information
- Email address and password (used to create and authenticate your account)
- Your chosen display name and family role (e.g. parent or child)
Family & recipe content
- Family name and the unique invite code used to join your group
- Recipes you create: title, description, ingredients, steps, and any photos you upload
- Comments, emoji reactions, and bookmarks on recipes
- Shopping list items added from recipes
- Cooking reminders you schedule inside the app
Usage data
- Which recipes you have viewed or cooked (used to show view and cook counts)
- Push notification token (used solely to deliver cooking reminders to your device)
Advertising data (free adult users only)
- Free adult users (parent and teen roles) see banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier (GAID/IDFA), IP address, and general usage data to serve relevant ads.
- Child accounts are never shown advertisements and are not subject to any advertising data collection.
- Premium subscribers do not see ads and are not subject to advertising data collection.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and family group
- To store and display your family's recipes, comments, and reactions
- To send cooking reminders you have explicitly scheduled
- To deliver over-the-air app updates so you always have the latest version
- To show recipe statistics (views, cooks, bookmarks) within your family group
For free adult users (parent and teen roles), we use Google AdMob to display banner advertisements. AdMob uses your advertising identifier and usage data to serve ads. Child accounts are never shown advertisements. Premium subscribers are not shown ads. We do not use your personal recipe or family data for advertising or profiling.
4. How We Share Your Information
Your data is shared only within your private family group. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes.
We use the following trusted services to operate the app:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, and Cloud Storage) — stores your account details, family data, recipes, and uploaded images securely. Firebase Privacy Policy

- Google AdMob — used to serve banner advertisements to free adult users (parents and teens only). Child accounts are excluded from all advertising. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to personalise ads. Google Privacy Policy · Manage Ad Settings
These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy and security commitments.
5. Advertising
Family Recipes is free to use and supported by advertising. Free users see banner advertisements served by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising platform operated by Google LLC.
To serve relevant ads, AdMob may collect and use:
- Your device's advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID on Android)
- Your IP address (used to infer approximate location for ad targeting)
- App usage data such as session length and interactions
This data is collected and processed by Google under their own privacy policy. We do not receive or store any advertising data ourselves.
Opting out: You can reset or opt out of personalised ads at any time in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads on Android) or by visiting adssettings.google.com.
Premium subscribers do not see advertisements and are not subject to advertising data collection by AdMob.

6. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers, which use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to your family's data is controlled by Firestore security rules — only authenticated members of your family group can read or write your family's content.
While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong password and to keep your login details private.
7. Children's Privacy
Family Recipes is designed for family use and may be used by children under parental supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 independently of a family account. All content created by children is visible only to their family group and is managed by the parent or guardian who created the family account.
Regarding advertising: child accounts are never shown advertisements. Ads are displayed only to adult users (parents and teens) on adult-facing screens. The children's dashboard contains no advertising whatsoever, and no advertising identifiers or ad-related data are collected from child users.
If you believe a child has provided us with information without appropriate consent, please contact us at cmoronu74@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You can at any time:
- Access or update your name and account details inside the app (Profile screen)
- Delete your recipes and comments from within the app
- Cancel cooking reminders from the recipe detail screen
- Disable push notifications in your device's system settings
- Delete your account directly inside the app — see Section 8a below
8a. How to Delete Your Account
You can permanently delete your Family Recipes account and all associated data at any time, directly from within the app. No need to contact us.
1. Open the Family Recipes app
2. Tap Profile (your avatar, top right of the home screen)
3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account
4. Confirm when prompted — your account will be deleted immediately
What gets deleted:
- Your account credentials and profile information
- Your display name, avatar, and role
- Your app preferences (language, theme)
What may remain:
- Recipes you created will remain visible to your family group (they are shared content)
- Comments and reactions you posted on recipes
If you would like all content including recipes and comments removed, please email us at cmoronu74@gmail.com after deleting your account and we will complete the full removal within 30 days.
9. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Recipes, comments, and other content you delete are removed from our database immediately. If you request full account deletion, all personal data associated with your account will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
For significant changes we will notify you via the app or by email.
